Dr. Alsahlani earned her medical degree in 2004 at Nova Southeastern University School of Medicine in Florida and finished her pediatric residency at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit. Throughout her career as a pediatrician, it was always Dr. Alsahlani’s dream to open a “different” kind of pediatric practice. With this dream and vision, she founded Serenity Pediatrics in 2017. Dr. Alsahlani is board-certified in Pediatrics and is also on the Beaumont Children’s Hospital- Pediatrics Residency Faculty where she teaches and works as a physician mentor for medical students.
Dr. Alsahlani and her family currently reside in the Bloomfield Hills area. In her free time, she enjoys running, working out, and spending quality time with her four amazing daughters.
Dr. Joannides is a 1995 graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Medicine in Detroit and has been in practice for over 22 years. Dr. Joannides is also board-certified in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include adolescent mental health conditions and behavioral health.
Dr. Joannides is a mother of four and an animal lover! She has two dogs and Conures (talking birds) who compete for her attention along with her children and husband.
Dr. Rubenstein is a 2003 graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and continued with her residency at Beaumont Hospital in 2004. She continued her education with a fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Michigan- DMC in 2013, specializing in pediatric hematology/oncology. Dr. Rubenstein is also board-certified through the American Board of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include hematological conditions, growth and development, and preventative care.
Dr. Rubenstein and her family love the outdoors! She is a mother of one and enjoys playing sports, biking, and playing outside with her wonderful son.
Dr. Folcik obtained her medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2003 and completed her pediatric residency at Beaumont Hospital, where she was Co-Chief Resident of Pediatrics, in 2006. She has been practicing as a pediatrician for over 17 years. Dr. Folcik is board-certified through the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include infectious diseases, providing education about common illnesses, and supporting parents as they navigate the various stages of childhood. She is passionate about promoting immunizations for the prevention of pediatric disease and protection of public health.
Dr. Folcik is a married mother of three who enjoys traveling with her family, cooking and baking, and cheering on the Michigan State Spartans!
Dr. Cohen attended Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in New York in 2002 and continued with her residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Well Cornell Medical Center. She is also board-certified in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics and has been a practicing pediatrician for over 17 years. Her clinical interests include developmental concerns and autism and preventative care.
Dr. Cohen is a mother of three beautiful children and enjoys watching their sporting events. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis & pickleball and loves to bake delicious treats!
Dr. Casterline graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016 and completed her pediatric residency with Authority Health at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where she was the Chief Resident. She also holds a Masters degree in Biomedical Science and a Minor in American Sign Language. Dr. Casterline is a mentor to new physicians and medical students through Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She is board-certified through the American Board of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include newborn care, breastfeeding support, disease prevention, and trauma informed care.
Dr. Casterline has two sons who keep her on her toes, but she loves being a boy mom! Her husband is a three-time cancer survivor and she knows what it is like to be on the other side of medicine. She loves watching America’s Funniest Home Videos and eating popcorn, especially on Sunday nights!
Tara completed both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2013 and 2017. Before joining Serenity, she worked for five years at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor on their Pediatric Hematology/Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant unit. She is board-certified as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Her clinical interests include hematological conditions, growth and development, and preventative care, including immunizations.
Tara is a mother to a beautiful daughter. She is also a world-medalist Irish Dancer and teaches Irish dance in her free time. She loves watching college football and cheering for the Michigan Wolverines!
Kara received her BSN degree from the University of Michigan in 2006. She worked for over a decade as a pediatric critical care nurse (NICU and PICU) at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor before graduating from Wayne State University as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2017. She is also proud to be certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant where she can empower mothers with breastfeeding support. Her clinical interests include newborn care, lactation/breastfeeding support, and preventative care.
Kara is a mother of four and being outside with nature is her happy place. Kara and her kids love discovering new trails to hike and enjoy searching for little critters and hidden treasures in any wooded areas they can find.
Ianna graduated from University of Michigan Flint in 2011 with her BSN degree and completed her Masters degree at Wayne State University in 2017. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in advertising from Michigan State University. Prior to becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Ianna worked at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital for over 5 years. Ianna speaks fluent Spanish. She is board-certified as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Her clinical interests include childhood growth and development with a strong consideration for overall well-being, including physical and mental health.
Ianna is a mother of two and enjoys being outside with her children, traveling, and dining out in her free time. She is passionate about medical mission trips and has provided medical care and “pop-up” clinics to children in Kenya and Nairobi.
