Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updated Office Protocols

Dear Serenity Family,

This week, there have been twelve (12) presumptive positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases identified in the state of Michigan. There has been limited information released and information surrounding the outbreak continues to change rapidly.

In order to keep you and your child safe, we will be implementing the following protocols at Serenity Pediatrics effective immediately:

  • Screening protocols will be used for all patients prior to entering the office.

  • You will receive a call from the front desk for all pre-scheduled appointments on the day prior to your appointment. You will be asked the screening questions which include any symptoms of respiratory illness that may be present, any known exposure to COVID-19, or any recent history of domestic or international travel for your child or any immediate family members in the household.

  • If you call to schedule a visit, you will also be asked these same screening questions and may be directed back to a triage nurse who will contact you back for further evaluation. Please be patient as the triage nurse will be experiencing a high call volume.

  • Upon arriving at the office, please call (248)-274-4711 and a staff member will greet you at the door to verify that you have been screened and open the door to the office for you. If you know that you have not been screened, please return to your vehicle and contact (248)-533-0000 to be screened for entry into the office.

  • If you or your child are sick, please stay home and contact our office at (248)-533-0000 first and please do not enter the office until you have been screened by either the front desk or our triage nurse.

  • We have also updated our office cleaning protocols. As an additional protective measure, we have designated a sick and well side to our waiting room. The front desk receptionists will be able to direct you to the appropriate area when you arrive at the office. In addition, we have designated both sick and well exam rooms. Please be patient if there is a slightly longer wait time than usual for an open room based on the type of visit that your child is coming in for due to additional cleaning measures we are taking in between each patient.

  • We will begin utilizing new telemedicine visits for your child with either a nurse or a provider. We are in the process of getting these telemedicine visits set up and will be emailing more information about these visits as soon as possible.

Please note that we are not currently testing for COVID-19 in our office per state protocols. Through our screening questions, if we are concerned for possible COVID-19, further care will be directed through the local health department in coordination with local hospitals. We encourage you to continue to check the MDHHS Coronavirus website at https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/ for further information on community mitigation strategies and for up-to-date recommendations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this evolving situation. The safety of you and your children is our top priority. We are continuing to stay up-to-date on information as it becomes available. Please continue to check your email and our website for updated information!
